For teams building modern, performance-focused websites, this changes the goal: design content that is easy to summarize correctly, easy to cite, and easy to interrogate through iterative follow-ups. That means clear structure, directly answerable passages, and modular sections that anticipate adjacent intents,so your page remains useful as the conversation narrows.
Google explicitly frames the new UX as an experience that “flows naturally into a conversation,” where users can ask follow-up questions directly from the AI Overview and then “jump into a conversational back and forth with AI Mode,” keeping context from the overview. Your content should therefore behave like a strong opening statement: accurate, scoped, and ready to be probed.
Practically, this means writing the top section of a page as if it will be quoted and then challenged.
